Farmer onboarding guide

Start with one good record, then build your whole farm picture.

Veldboek works best when it follows the work already happening on the farm. You do not need to capture every historic record on day one.

1

Create your private farm

Start the 14-day trial with your ChatGPT account. Name the farm, choose the province and accept the customer terms.

2

Map the first camp

Open Map, trace a camp boundary and save it. Veldboek calculates hectares and gives your records a practical location.

3

Add livestock groups

Enter each mob or herd once with its opening number, breed, class and current camp. Births, purchases, deaths and sales keep the count moving.

4

Choose your first useful record

For most farms, begin with a move, a treatment, a rainfall reading, a weight or an expense. Capture what happened, not everything at once.

5

Bring in existing data

Use More → Connections for BenguFarm, weighing-session and production imports. Preview the file, resolve warnings and confirm before saving.

6

Use reports after records exist

Rankings, costs and performance reports become useful as the same groups are measured over time. Missing records are shown as missing—they are not treated as poor performance.

A sensible first week

Make Veldboek useful before you add more detail.
