Veldboek is designed to be a record system for the farmer—not a buyer of farm information. This page explains the practical ownership position in plain language.

1. What is Customer Data?

Customer Data means the information you or your authorised users place in Veldboek: farm and business details, camps and GPS boundaries, livestock records, EIDs, weights, breeding and treatment history, production and financial records, documents, photos, imports and reports.

2. You control it

You retain all rights in your Customer Data. You decide who is given access to your farm workspace and remain responsible for ensuring that you have authority to upload information about employees, contractors, clients or other people.

3. What Veldboek may do

You give Veldboek a limited permission to host, store, back up, transmit, display and process Customer Data only to provide, support, secure and improve the service; meet legal obligations; and act on your instructions. That permission ends when the data is deleted or de-identified, subject to lawful retention and recovery processes.

4. What Veldboek will not do

  • We will not sell or rent identifiable farm or customer information.
  • We will not use your farm records to make production, veterinary, financial or trading decisions for you.
  • We will not disclose your records to another farmer unless you authorise it or law requires it.

5. Exports and leaving the service

Veldboek provides CSV, PDF and print exports for the records and reports supported in the app. If you need help retrieving data, request assistance before closing your account. The service terms and your subscription confirmation will describe the applicable export, retention and deletion process.

6. De-identified improvement data

Veldboek may use data only after it has been de-identified and combined so that it cannot reasonably identify you, your farm, an animal or another person. This helps us improve reliability, usability and general product insights. It does not transfer ownership of your records.

7. Roles under POPIA

For Customer Data, the farmer or business that determines the purpose and use of the information is normally the responsible party. Veldboek acts as operator when processing that information on the customer’s instructions. Veldboek remains responsible for its own account, support, billing, marketing and platform-security data as described in the Privacy Policy.
